GateKeeper Conveyor -- Support Documentation

What Is GateKeeper Conveyor?

GateKeeper Conveyor is a quality-assurance system used in manufacturing and distribution facilities. It sits alongside a production conveyor line and automatically checks that every case or pallet passing through has the correct labels, barcodes, and RFID tags before it ships. When something does not match -- a wrong lot code, a missing barcode, or a bad RFID read -- GateKeeper rejects the item so it can be fixed before it leaves the building.

The system uses a combination of cameras, RFID readers, and stack lights to perform these checks. A Windows-based application running on a PC at the line controls all the hardware and displays real-time results to the operator.

Who Is This Documentation For?

This guide is written for Tier 1 IT support and helpdesk staff who receive calls from plant operators and need to:

  • Understand what the operator is seeing on-screen
  • Walk through basic troubleshooting steps
  • Determine whether an issue can be resolved remotely or needs escalation
  • Collect the right diagnostic information before escalating

You do not need deep programming knowledge or hardware engineering expertise to use this documentation. Where a topic gets more technical, we call that out and point you to the right escalation path.

How This Documentation Is Organized

Section What You Will Find
Getting Started High-level overview of the system, the user interface, daily operations, and common workflows
Validation Modes How each site's validation logic works -- what gets checked and why
Hardware Guides for every piece of hardware (cameras, RFID readers, stack lights, etc.)
Troubleshooting Decision trees, error references, and step-by-step how-to guides for common problems
Sites Site-specific details for every production deployment
Escalation When and how to escalate, including a template and diagnostics-collection checklist
Reference Glossary, configuration quick-reference, network ports, file locations, and version history

Emergency Contacts and Escalation

Role Contact Notes
Tier 2 Engineering Support [To be provided by your manager] For issues that cannot be resolved with this documentation
AbeTech Development Team [To be provided by your manager] For software bugs or feature requests
Site Operations Lead [Varies by site -- see Sites section] For plant-side coordination

If you are unsure who to contact, follow the Escalation Template and gather diagnostics using the Collecting Diagnostics guide before reaching out.

Important Note About Configuration Values

Configuration values shown in this documentation (IP addresses, ports, file paths, etc.) are examples only. Every production site has its own unique configuration. Do not assume that a value you see in a document matches what is running at a specific site. When in doubt, confirm with the site's actual configuration file or ask the site operations lead.
